Live the nightlife like Cretans do!
Crete is magical, I am telling you! There are plenty of entertainment options for all tastes and all ages, from frantic foam parties to the more traditional nights. During the summer in Crete, you can meet the locals and you immediately all become a company and follow their unique way of having fun.
After the sunset, the world begins to gather in "ouzeries" and "taverns" (stores that are usually located or overlooking the sea) enjoying their tsikoudia (local traditional product) or their ouzo with special appetizers
The sequel unfolds in various music scenes, discos, clubs, bars, bouzoukia or night clubs with live Cretan music, in the beautiful alleys or on the coastal front of every region of the island until the morning. For those who want something more relaxing, there are various arts festivals with cultural events, such as theatrical performances, concerts of all kinds of music and dance, as well as summer cinemas where they screen films mainly in English.
And I can’t just stop there! When it comes to Chania; there are many cosmopolitan clubs and stylish bar-restaurants, atmospheric bars and scenic cafes to enjoy your drink or cocktail, others hidden in the streets of the Old Town, historic buildings and inner courtyards, others on the waterfront quay. Everything is there, ready to meet your preferences, whether for a relaxing drink or for endless parties. Chania is bustling with life!
Old town, old harbor, Splantzia, Hatzimichalis Daliani, Akrotiri, are some of the places where you can wander to find what you are looking for fun: Cafes, Bars, Clubs, live Greek and foreign music scene as well as your jazz bars invite you to experience the nightlife of the city to the fullest.
A few kilometers outside Chania, west of the city, there are the summer resorts Agia Marina (8km) and Platanias (11km). Agia Marina with the beautiful beach, the many quality taverns and the incomparable nightlife, offers an experience that you should not miss. In Platanias you will find lively nightlife, bars, restaurants, a long sandy beach and countless hotels stretching out to its beach.
Rethymno might be a small city but the nightlife options are varied! You can enjoy traditional Cretan cuisine in the restaurants or taverns of Rethymno, along the coastal road but also by the seaside, just outside the Koube (before the camp). In the Venetian harbor, the visitor can meet fish taverns in order to enjoy the food just by the sea. An alternative suggestion is in the picturesque streets of the old town, where there are taverns with traditional and folk music.
Many cafes are located on the coastal road (Eleftherios Venizelos Street), where you can choose between many suggestions, depending on the style and music they like. You can also have a drink at the café-bar located in the old harbor, as well as in the pedestrian zone in the Pasarela area, between the Fortezza Castle and the old harbor.
The clubs of Rethymnon vary during the winter and summer months. As far as winter is concerned, they are mainly concentrated on Melissinos Street in the old town, while some are in the old harbor. You can choose depending on the music you like, between foreign (pop, house, latin) and greek (pop, artistic, folk).
I couldn’t possibly cover everything, I mean I didn’t say anything about Heraklion, the biggest city of Crete, but just imagine the vibes you will be getting once you actually there living it all and experiencing the true Cretan fun!
